Why should you write for The Daughters of Mary blog?

The Daughters of Mary blog is an extension of our mission of journeying together as women and deepening our relationship with Christ through Prayer, Community, and Formation under the intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Who is The Daughters of Mary audience?

Catholic women of various ages and seasons in life.

What should I write about?

The Daughters of Mary blog currently has two categories for submissions:

  1. “And she pondered these things in her heart…” { c.f. Luke 2:19 }

    1. Our “Ponderings” are an opportunity for Catholic women to share their insights on faith and spirituality in their daily lives.  We welcome an emphasis or focus on the person and example of Mother Mary or an aspect of Marian spirituality. These submissions can be reflections, testimonies, moments of realization, insights into Scripture or other faith-based texts, or faith narratives.

  2. The Daughters of Mary Prayer Journal

    1. Our Prayer Journal is an opportunity for Catholic women to pray-through-writing.  Writers share their personal prayers with our community of women, who will pray along with them in a spirit of empathy and compassion.  Many readers may find they relate deeply with the prayers of the writers. These posts are typically written in the first person and are more informal in style, but are honest, authentic, and vulnerable.  Although prayerful in style, the prayer journal is not for broader reflections or meditations, and it is not for a list of intercessions. Rather, it is a window into the hearts and spirits of other Catholic women.  Again, a special emphasis on our Blessed Mother is welcome in these submissions.

*Note: While some submissions may be Catholic in nature and/or skillfully written, work that does not fit into these categories will not be considered and may be appropriate for another publication.

What are the requirements for submission approval?

  • Submissions should be between 500-1200 words for submissions in the Ponderings category and up to 750 words for submissions to the Prayer Journal.
